NFPA’s Research Foundation has published a report which finds that home sprinkler systems now cost just $1.35/square foot, down from $1.61/square foot found in a 2008 report. Moreover, the costs are even lower in California and Maryland at just $1.16/square foot. These are the two States which require all new houses to be fitted with a sprinkler system and where costs have since fallen below the average for the rest of the country.
