In the September edition of Face au Risque an article discusses recent growth in the French sprinkler market. It was estimated to be 1.5% in 2015 and is anticipated to be 2% in 2016. Between 1.5 million and 1.6 million sprinklers were installed in 2015, putting the market at the same size as at its peak over 10 years ago. In value terms, it is estimated at €330 million. According to the French sprinkler installers association, GIS, today some 5,000 sites are protected with sprinklers, compared to 3,600 in 2009. More systems are being installed in car parks and to a lesser extent distribution centres, while fewer systems are being installed in shopping centres because few are currently being built.
