The Geneva Association, an organisation funded by the world’s leading insurance companies, has published its compilation of fire statistics for 2009. The tables in the report show fire deaths and monetary losses for almost 30 countries. In Europe the fire death rate varies widely, from 0.33 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants in Switzerland to 1.98 in Finland and 8.44 in Estonia.
