Smaalenenes Avis reports that a fire broke out at 11:00 on 18 August in a residential block in Storgata in Askim. The fire brigade was soon on the scene and on arrival found that the sprinkler system had extinguished the fire. Terje Oftedal, a police spokesman, said that there were no injuries. Many residents of the building are elderly and infirm. The fire brigade evacuated several people while they ventilated the building and cleaned up the water.
